How to play Tri Peaks

Tri Peaks is a brisk, addictive solitaire built on a single idea: keep a chain going. Three peaks of cards stand over a long base row, and you clear them by playing one card at a time onto the waste pile, always moving one rank up or one rank down. String together a long run without dipping into the stock and the board melts away surprisingly fast.

Goal

Clear all 28 cards in the three peaks. Empty every peak and you win the deal.

The board

  • Three peaks sit above a base row of ten cards. Only fully uncovered cards are face-up and playable; each peak card unlocks once the two cards overlapping it are gone.
  • The stock holds 24 cards. Click it to turn the next one onto the waste — there is no recycle.
  • The waste shows the current card your next play must connect to.

Moves

  • Click any uncovered face-up card whose value is one above or one below the top of the waste.
  • Rank wraps around: K → A → 2 and 2 → A → K both count as one step.
  • Each valid play extends your run and may uncover new cards behind it.
  • When no card connects, click the stock for a fresh waste card. When the stock is empty and nothing plays, the game ends.

Strategy

Long chains are everything — before you spend a stock draw, look for the sequence that uncovers the most face-down peak cards. The base row matters less than the cards above it, so dig toward the peaks rather than clearing the bottom for its own sake. Hold a stock draw in reserve when you can branch two ways from the same waste card, and try to leave yourself an Ace or King in play, since their wrap makes them the most flexible cards on the board. With only 24 stock cards and no recycle, every flip counts, so make the table work for you before you reach for one. Not every deal can be cleared, so if you stall, deal a fresh hand and chase a longer run next time.
